Just a quickie

Only a short coment this time - it being hard to type through gritted teeth.

Why is it that nobody points out the obvious disparity in Governmental response between the 'haves' and the 'have-nots'?

Take recent example: a filthy rich comedian (who, incidently, bases a lot of his humour on the 1% and their unseemly interest in hoarding their money) is caught out hiding his own money from the UK taxman. Big uproar and high moral dugeon by Mr Cameron. Of course Mr Carr is a hypocrite and has the morals of a street rat but in this he is far from alone. That many of the others (including Mr Cameron, pere) who similarly take legal but unethical steps to cache their stash are Conservatives of great high standing and assume highly moralistic stances on any number of issues (generally related to how others conduct their lives) serves only to add irony to the putrid mix. The Cameron government occasionally throw a bone to the rabid dogs and indicate that, in the fullness of time, after deep and serious meditation, and leaving no stone unturned, there will be legislation proposed to shut off the numerous loopholes in the seive that is the taxation status of the criminally rich. Contrast this with the haste with which they rush to shut off scenarios where there might be a hint of a possibility of welfare abuse. Never mind that the unemployed are bounded (to say nothing of hounded) by already draconian webs of legislation waiting like gin traps (look them up, they are not a pleasant way to catch an animal) to spring and deny payment. In point of fact, it takes considerable ingenuity to survive on welfare, let alone to prosper. This is capitalism at its finest - surely something with which the Conservatives could identify?

And yet Mr Cameron is not met with howls of derision and retains a credibility significantly greater than the sanctimonious prig that he is. It is not to his credit that he is playing on the basest instincts of humanity. A supposedly intelligent and educated man should be above such crass manipulation. It is neither to the credit of our society that a majority of people strongly support tightening up the welfare system and cast off with the merest shrug the thievery practised on us by the very rich.

And don't even get me started on the self-evident truth that welfare fraud would vanish into insignificance if there were well paying and stable jobs available. But, no, punishment is everything - Mr Cameron's family life must have been hell.
